Washington, DC – September 1st heralds the start of the 7th Annual National Preparedness Month (NPM). Hosted by FEMA’s Ready Campaign, NPM 2010 is designed to encourage all Americans to take proactive measures in preparation for emergencies at home, at work and within their communities. As an NPM 2010 Coalition member, MSA is supporting the Ready Campaign objectives by promoting the readiness message across the National Capital Region. MSA will share preparedness information with our fellow members, clients, employees, and communities while spearheading activities to encourage hands-on planning for individual, neighborhood, and community preparedness.

Throughout the month MSA plans to make use of their own recently launched digital communication platforms to reach a broad audience and reinforce the necessity for all American’s to take preparedness more seriously. MSA also hopes to address the diverse cases which preparedness may prove challenging and necessitate unique solutions, such as families with services members, small children and those with communication disabilities.

The Campaign’s websites (ready.gov and listo.gov) and toll-free numbers (1-800-BE-READY, TTY 1-800-462-7585, and 1-888-SE-LISTO) provide Americans with free emergency preparedness information. MSA Obtains 8(m) WOSB Status

Washington, D.C.- Man-Machine Systems Assessment (MSA), Inc, is pleased to announce that we have completed certification requirements for the Small Business Administration’s new Woman-Owned Small Business Program (WOSB) – also known as the 8(m) program. 

The WOSB program was created to help Federal agencies meet government-wide small business contracting goals and to ensure a level playing field on which WOSB's can compete for Federal Contracting opportunities. 


 

For a contracting officer to create a set-aside for WOSBs, they must have a reasonable expectation that:

  • The award price will not be greater than $5 million for a manufacturing contract and $3 million for other contracts.
  • Two or more WOSBs will make an offer.
  • The contract can be awarded at a fair and reasonable price.
  • The contract is for goods and services in an industry in which WOSBs are substantially underrepresented.

MSA Prepares for Hurricane Irene...Are you ready?

Hurricane Irene is a large, powerful Category 3 hurricane with the Northern Eastern U.S. in its sights. The National Hurricane Center has stated that Irene is expected to become a larger than average hurricane, that will bring storm-force and hurricane-force winds. You should expect power outages, downed trees, and water surges around coastal shorelines.

We strongly encourage all MSA employees, vendors and clients located near the hurricanes path to take all necessary precautions as you prepare for this weekend’s activities. The American Red Cross has a great website that provides tips and a step-by-step process to prepare your family for situations like Hurricane Irene.  You can also use this great tool available at Ready.gov to create a customized family plan, click here.

MSA Certified in DC as a Certified Business Enterprise
