MSA Helps Tackle Alzheimer’s Disease

Posted on November 1, 2010 in Giving Back - Paying it Forward

Washington, DC - Man-Machine Systems Assessment (MSA) continues to be an avid supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Washington D.C chapter through their annual Blondes v. Brunettes flag football game.

Blondes vs. Brunettes (BvB) is a volunteer-driven event that raises awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Two teams of women – divided to reflect the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes – compete in a flag football game to help end Alzheimer’s.

The participants also recruit coaches, announcers and other volunteers to build an atmosphere of fierce, friendly competition. Leading up to game day, the two teams participate in a series of events to socialize and increase awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.

“We know that this game won’t cure anyone today, tomorrow, or even the day after that,” said Ryan Triplette, BvB organizer. “But as this game grows with participants and donors and in cities around the country, it will raise awareness and commitment to finding a cure. It is our hope and firm belief that, one day, we will all become Champions because we will find a cure for the disease.”

Over the course of MSA’s 4-year participation in this event, President Lilly Harris has raised over $26,000 for the cause. For more information visit http://blondesvsbrunettes.org/.

WASHINGTON – Families of our fallen military don’t have to grieve alone, says TAPS, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. The organization’s efforts to help survivors left behind following a death in the military will be saluted at the annual TAPS Honor Guard Gala, being held Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium.

While our nation’s capital city hosts many fundraising events, none are as poignant as the TAPS Honor Guard Gala, where widows, children, parents and other survivors of our fallen military sit next to leading CEOs, military leaders and supporters to talk about how TAPS has helped their families.
