MSA in the News: Team begins AEWE data collection

Posted on November 8, 2011 in Press

MSA was recently featured in the November issue of the TheBayonet.com. MSA analysts worked hard supporting the Army Test and Evaluation Command crunching data generated by the Spiral G assessment during this year’s Army Expeditionary Warrior Experiment.

Military analysts and exercise force leadership hoped to gain more insight into how 4G smartphone technology could benefit the Soldier and small unit, said Lt. Col. Stephen Kneeland, the AEWE Spiral G analysis team leader. The 2011 session revolved around empowering the squad and platoon by identifying and assessing voice and data alternatives, with focus on cellular networks and digital applications.

Fort Benning’s Maneuver Battle Lab conducted the experiment, which began Oct. 17. Major players include the Army Capabilities Integration Center and experts from ATEC, the Maneuver Center of Excellence, Army Material Systems Analysis Activity, Booz-Allen Hamilton, the Army Research Lab-Human Research and Engineering Directorate and Man-Machine Systems Assessment Inc.

MAN-MACHINE SYSTEMS ASSESSMENT HOLDS PUBLIC EVENTS SERIES FOR NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 12, 2011, Washington, D.C. - Man-Machine Systems Assessment will spearhead four unique public events in the Washington area this September geared to assess and advise the community for National Preparedness Month. These events will focus on business and workplace preparedness, school preparedness and home and pet preparedness.

National Preparedness Month, observed each September is a joint government initiative to ensure the public is informed, educated and ready to act in case of serious emergency, be it natural disaster or an attack on our nation. Through this series of public events Man-Machine Systems Assessment (MSA) aims to extend it’s long recognized expertise in emergency planning to specific facets of our community sometimes overlooked when creating disaster plans.

MSA, recently celebrating 20 years of excellence in service in 2010, is a minority, woman-owned business headquartered in Washington, D.C. and is a recognized leader in providing emergency management and strategic planning service to local, state and the federal governments. Their accolades for innovation and growth have come from Inc Magazine, The Washington Business Journal, Hispanic Business Magazine, Smart CEO Magazine and many others.

President and CEO, Lilly Harris, is an avid spokesperson for personal, family, and business emergency preparedness. “While MSA is very accustomed to providing emergency management support to our Federal government clients,” Ms. Harris explains, “it’s important that families and businesses take a moment to reflect on the tragedy of 9/11 and pledge to be better prepared in the future. Building a culture of preparedness is essential. MSA has been an early adopter of new technology, so it’s only natural that we would assist the Ready Campaign by engaging the social media community during National Preparedness Month,” said Ms. Harris.

Man-Machine Systems Assessment Announces Participation in September’s National Preparedness Month (NPM)

Posted on September 2, 2011 in Press
Washington, DC – This September marks the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks. As part of FEMA’s “This September: A Time to Remember. A Time to Prepare” the government consulting firm, Man-Machine Systems Assessment, (MSA) Inc. is demonstrating its commitment to increasing preparedness through outreach, an information campaign, and staffing a preparedness booth for local Washington, DC businesses during the month of September. You can find a listing of our events, here.

MSA’s president and CEO, Lilly Harris, is an avid spokesperson for personal, family, and business emergency preparedness. “While MSA is very accustomed to providing emergency management support to our Federal government clients,” Ms. Harris explains, “it’s important that families and businesses take a moment to reflect on the tragedy of 9/11 and pledge to be better prepared in the future.”

National Preparedness Month, now in its eighth year, is a nationwide, month-long effort hosted by the Ready Campaign and Citizen Corps that encourages households, businesses and communities to prepare and plan for emergencies. Throughout the  month of September, MSA will utilize Twitter and other social media to spread a message of preparedness. “Building a culture of preparedness is essential. MSA has been an early adopter of new technology, so it’s only natural that we would assist the Ready Campaign by engaging the social media community during National Preparedness Month,” said Ms. Harris.

As part of National Preparedness Month, citizens are encouraged to visit www.Ready.gov to learn more about planning for disaster. As the site explains, disaster preparedness can start with three simple steps:

  1. Assemble an emergency supply kit
  2. Make a plan for what to do in an emergency
  3. Be informed about emergencies that could happen in your community, and identify sources of information in your community that will be helpful before, during and after an emergency.

“In the past two weeks, the eastern coast of the United States has experienced a 5.8 magnitude earthquake, Hurricane Irene, and significant flooding,” said Todd Jasper, an associate director with MSA’s Homeland Security & Emergency Management Division. “There’s no better time to begin preparing for emergencies. Proper planning can save lives and, in some cases, even mitigate damages.”

This is the second year MSA has participated in NPM.
