Integrated Logistics Support
Integrated Logistics
Support (ILS) is a part of a procurement procedure used
by the Department of Defense to ensure supportability of
all equipment from its initial inception through design,
full rate production and demilitarization. Supportability
of a piece of equipment means identifying and insuring all
components needed to operate this equipment are in place
and readily accessible. It also means that a well define
process has been adhered to in evaluating a piece of equipment,
conforming to all pertinent DoD regulations, such that the
warfighter is the focus and the deliverable is suitable
in theater or on a work site. Supportability is evaluated
as several intervals prior to full rate production, and
revisited well into the lifecycle. Integrated logistics
has 9 components which are reviewed for compliance with
supportability requirements.
These are as follows:
- Maintenance planning
- Supply support
- Test Equipment support
- Manpower and personnel
- Training and training support
|
- Technical data
- Computer Resources support
- Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation
(PHS&T)
- Design interface
